Explore the most amazing mangrove ecosystem teeming with abundant flora and fauna. Terraba Sierpe mangroves are the largest mangrove forest in Costa Rica. Became a forest reserve in 1977 and it’s considered a “Ramsar” site of international importance for the conservation of endangered species.

Our comfortable boat ride through the Terraba Sierpe mangroves allows you to discover a wide variety of tropical flora and fauna. This forest reserve is a bird and nature sanctuary and an important habitat for many species of fish, shellfish, mammals, and reptiles. These mangroves are home to 100 species of birds, including the endemic mangrove hummingbird, found nowhere else on earth. This tour is led by a certified guide you will explore this ecosystem in a small boat through the mangroves while our guide shares interesting information about the mangroves, the flora, and the fauna. This tour allows visitors to intimate with nature while you get to see caimans, herons, snakes, crocodiles, iguanas, crabs, river turtles, monkeys, birds of prey among others.
