Snorkel Caño Island

On this snorkeling tour you will have the opportunity to observe large variety of marine organisms that include colorful fish, sea turtles, manta rays, yellow bellied snake, two species of dolphins and maybe humpback whales. Also, different species of seabirds.

Caño island is located off the coast of Corcovado National Park on the south Pacific. The island offers great underwater visibility allowing visitors to enjoy the largest concentration of corals. With a visibility of 20 ft. or more and a protected reef, the snorkeling here is excellent. Snorkelers have the chance to spot parrotfish, surgeonfish, barber fish, eels, snapper, puffers, barracudas, among others.

Caño island

The tour departs from Marino Ballena National Park at 7:30 a.m. and arrives at Caño Island around 9 a.m. During the boat ride to Caño Island, you may be able to spot whales, dolphins, sea turtles, and marine birds. Once on the Island, two snorkeling sessions will be performed in two different locations. The average time for snorkeling is 2.5 hours (depending on the visibility or ability of the participants). Lunch included in Violines Island (if the sea is rough) we do lunch in Uvita.

The boat will head back to Marino Ballena around 3:30 or 4:00 p.m. Along the way, you’ll pass one of the largest protected mangrove forests in Central America. This tour is not recommended for children under 6 years old or people with serious health problems, including IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). There are no restrooms on the boat or on Caño Island. Restrooms are available at a private resort on Violines Island.
