Learn the ancient secrets of chocolate, on this Rainforest Chocolate Tour, this tour begins when you are picked up in your hotel, we will travel to a cocoa plantation, located outside the town of la Fortuna, Arenal area. Once there, you will be welcome by the staff, your guide will give you a brief introduction about the origins and history of chocolate. You will hike through a cocoa plantation, where you will learn about the growth cycle of cocoa trees, the flowers, pollinators and fruits and their importance for wildlife.
Next, you will learn about the process of making chocolate, the process include drying of the seeds, fermentation, grinding and roasting of the beans. You’ll have the opportunity to taste a chocolate drink where you can add different ingredients. Tasting is included!

The rainforest chocolate tour is an eco-project develop by Mr Carlos Chavarria. He was the director of la Tirimbina biological station in the department of environmental education. Also, he works a naturalist guide sharing his knowledge and experience with all visitors. This type of eco-projects are very important to promote conservation through education.
