The mangroves are a variety of trees that grows along the coasts, rivers and estuaries, meaning, that they can live in fresh water, salty water or a mix of both. Our tour begins in Manuel Antonio (Quepos), we will travel for 20-minutes to Damas island. Here, you will board a covered boat for nearly 2-hours through the mangroves searching for wildlife. Mangroves are some of the best places to see wildlife due the dense forest. Here, you get to see Great egrets, Tiger herons, kingfishers, birds of prey and several species of seabirds such as cormorants, Brown pelicans, frigatebirds among others. Along the roots of the mangroves you will see crabs that play an important role as scavangers.These crabs are important in recycling nitrogen for the survivel of the ecosystem. If you like to take pictures this is the perfect place because you get to see caimans, crocodiles, 3 species of monkeys, iguanas and snakes.
